Stress reduction yoga is a powerful tool for managing general stress and anxiety. This class is designed to turn on the parasympathic nervous system and return the body to a state of hemostasis and balance. The breath becomes deep, slow and even. Blood pressure and heart beat decrease. The body relaxes; the mind quiets and allows rest and healing. Asana or poses physically prepare the body for relaxation. Yoga nidra mentally quiets the mind. The technique is very easy to learn and reduces the response to stress by experiencing a hypnagogic state. This is conscious sleeping, a stillness that precedes thought. This class is free to veterans in gratitude for their service. This class is open to all levels.
