In 2023 the Arts Center shared the secret ingredients for success as an artist. The Secret Sauce Series was FOUR evenings of conversation and mingling with invited guests and regional artists. 

The 2024 schedule and topics will be announced in the spring. 

2023 EVENTS

SEPTEMBER 12, 2023: SELLING YOURSELF (WELL, YOUR ART). LET’S GET THIS BREAD. With special guests: Kathleen Tesnakis, ekologic founder; Robert Cooper, artist + photographer; and Chad Kleitch, artist. Topics included: pricing, gallery representation, online marketplaces, retail, and wholesale.

OCTOBER 10, 2023: MARKETING YOURSELF. HOW TO STAND OUT IN A CROWD. With special guests: Adam Frelin, artist; Amy Griffin, Director of Opalka Gallery; and Alana Sparrow, designer and founder of the Foundry for Art + Design. Topics included: artist statements, social media, websites, proposals, publications, and press.

NOVEMBER 14, 2023: SUPPORTING YOURSELF. ALL THE “FUN” STUFF. With special guests: Ali Herrmann, artist; Theresa Van Duyne, owner of T&J Soaps; and Raè Frazier aka ART MONEY, artist. Topics will likely include: taxes, finances, documentation, studio spaces, insurance, and health care. 

DECEMBER 12, 2023: SUSTAINING YOURSELF. SELF CARE AND COMMUNITY. With special guests: Jacqueline Lake-Sample, founder JALL CREATIONS; Barbara Todd, artist; and Michael Kennedy; artist. Topics may include: mental health, inspiration, networking, supporting other artists, residencies, and artist communities.
