2 BLOCKS OF MURALS IN TROY!

CHURCH STREET, BETWEEN STATE + FERRY STREETS

What is Troy Art Block?

Troy Art Bock is a new public art program produced by the Arts Center in fall 2023.
For Troy Art Block we curated and produced 27 temporary murals in two blocks of the Church Street alley, between State & Ferry Streets, in downtown Troy.
Our goals were to: 1) Create a unique destination for art lovers throughout the region.
2) Use street art to create a distinctive urban experience for visitors and residents who use Troy’s historic alleys as thoroughfares. And,
3) Attract customers to Troy’s locally-owned businesses.
We hope to present a new festival every two years. As the first open-air gallery in the Capital Region,
Troy Art Block is a playful destination for art lovers and a unique urban experience for Troy’s visitors and residents.

PAST EVENTS & PROGRAMS

Our Troy Art Block festivities kicked off on October 12th at the Arts Center with a panel discussion entitled “Making Magic: Street Art & Murals,” a conversation with four of our Art Block artists about making a living doing street art and murals. Panelists included: CLOUDXCRUISER (Atlanta, GA); Rae Fraiser aka Art Money (Schenectady, NY); Joe Iurato (New Jersey); and Kris Kanaly aka Pyramid Guy (Oklahoma City). We hope to provide a link to the recorded session soon!

On October 14th, in Church Street, between State & Ferry Streets, visitors came and watched the artists paint live! Music, food and beverages were provided by the Downtown Troy BID and local businesses Juice Factory, Mi Casa, Rare Form Brewery, and Street Taco.

FUNDING & SUPPORT

Troy Art Block was presented by the Arts Center of the Capital Region, in partnership with the City of Troy, The American Recovery Plan Act and the Downtown Troy BID. The panel discussion was supported by funding from the New York State Council on the Arts. The project was also made possible through support from sponsor Collectiveffort and individual friends of the project.
