HARRY WIRTZ

HARRY WIRTZ

BIOGRAPHY

Harry Wirtz received his BA in English with an art minor from the State University of New York at Albany in January 1969. He has worked at cinematography, film editing, location sound recording, proofreading and graphic arts, and assisted advertising photographers working for corporate clients before working for himself out of a small product photography studio in Putnam Valley, NY. His personal photography is mostly still life: formal, finely detailed photographs of natural settings, landscapes large and small, plants and organic items, and human-made artifacts ranging in size from hand tools to buildings. The inkjet pigment print is his medium. His images are usually simple, featuring the subject and letting it tell a story on an immediate, literal level. His past in advertising photography is evidenced by deliberate technical control and staging, whether outdoors in nature or in a studio.
