A Conceptual Approach to Music Technology

Learn live sound, recording, editing, and production concepts in ways you can apply to a variety of contexts. In this hands on class we will cover a variety of software platforms and hardware applications. Instruments, microphones, etc. will be provided for practice, but students are encouraged to bring their own materials as well. Topics include: setting up and operating a live sound stage with multiple mixes; recording guitars, singers, pianos and amplifiers; introduction to digital audio workstations and signal flow; post production basics including editing and adding effects; using technology to streamline creative tasks including song writing and composing with MIDI. Ages 13 and up welcome!

Dating back to the early nineteenth century, Toy Theater, (or Paper Theater), is a form of miniature theater now seeing a resurgence among theater and film artists, with a number of international festivals, including one in NYC.
