This course will define and clarify the functions that are found on most digital SLR cameras, shooting techniques, and an introduction to digital viewing and editing on the computer. Students will learn about depth of field, aperture, exposure, light meter, quality settings, shutter speeds, and basic composition. Students can bring their own DSLR camera, or use one at The Arts Center. Please bring a USB flash drive to save your work. No class 7/4.

Portraiture Workshop

Perfect your portraits! Students will be guided through various techniques for shooting portraits with natural light in outdoor and indoor settings. Working with focus, composition, environment and more, students will gain a better understanding of using the time of day to your advantage to create a stunning portrait. Basic knowledge of the use of a digital SLR camera is helpful, but beginners are welcome. The Arts Center can provide a DSLR camera for you to work with, but if you have your own camera, please bring it with you.

On Location Portraiture

In this one-day workshop, students will be guided through the process of photographing models in a variety of locations. Students will learn about basic styling techniques including posing and we will work with natural light and natural light modifiers.
