Portfolio Development

Intro to Portfolio Development is designed for photographers who want to learn how to cull their finished work down into cohesive portfolios and collections. In this weekend workshop we will discuss the importance of creating an identity and style with focus on specific participant goals. Additionally participants will be introduced to some industry established categories and various applications for viewing and sharing their work. We will have one-on-one time to discuss the work with the instructor, get critical feedback, and create one solid portfolio for presentation to the class. Some experience with Photoshop is helpful, but not required.

Studio Photography

In this workshop participants will be exposed to the foundations of Studio Photography. We will discuss how to create light for various studio applications, including tabletop and portrait work. Participants will experiment with various studio equipment including how to use a light meter and studio strobes to achieve well exposed and composed images. Prerequisite: Intro to Photography or a firm knowledge of Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO and Camera Metering.

Introduction to Off Camera Flash

March 14, 2015 — 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM Instructor: Katherine Wright

In this intense workshop, participants will be exposed to the foundation of using Flash Photography. We will discuss how to create and modify light for various applications including event and portrait work. Participants will experiment with various Flash setups including on camera and off camera scenarios and we will work indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). Participants will need to have their own camera and external flash unit for this workshop.
Prerequisite: Intro to Photography or firm knowledge of Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, and Camera Metering

Students will expand on the basic photography skills instructed in Photography 101 and become exposed to a variety of “real world” situations to better improve their images. Students will also be introduced to working with models, basic post-production techniques, working with Camera RAW, shooting with both natural and studio lighting, and more! Photography 101 or background in photography (shooting in manual settings) is highly recommended. The Arts Center can provide a DSLR camera for you to work with, but if you have your own camera, please bring it. NO CLASS 5/25
