Beginning Swing Dance, Lindy-Hop + Blues
June 5, 2012 to July 10, 2012 — 07:30 PM to 08:45 PM Instructor: Jason FentonThis progressive class is geared toward beginners who have never tried or want to expand their swing dancing repertoire. Class will focus on up-tempo steps of fast 6-count East Coast Swing and Jitterbug which is geared towards up-tempo Swing, Jump Blues and Rockabilly music while the Lindy Hop and Charleston sections will cover more technical 8-count steps which are geared towards more traditional Swing music. Some previous swing dance experience is helpful, but not necessary. No partner is required.

Beginning Ballet
June 11, 2012 to July 16, 2012 — 07:00 PM to 08:15 PM Instructor: Melissa DerGurahianThis class will begin at the barre and progress to the center, moving across floor combinations. While using traditional ballet technique and terminology, this class will also stress natural, healthy placement of the body, musicality, flow, and artistry. The teacher employs a very hands-on approach in her teaching, allowing students to focus on their individual progress. This class is intended for beginning students. Students may wish to continue onto Intermediate Ballet after completing this course.

Beginning Modern Dance
June 11, 2012 to July 16, 2012 — 08:15 PM to 09:30 PM Instructor: Melissa DerGurahianThis class will use the concepts of suspension, gravity, energy, and counter-balance. It will explore these concepts through floor work, a standing warm-up, and dance phrases that give students a chance to really move. The class will utilize sounds and rhythm to help students better understand the nuance of movement. This class is intended for beginning students. Students may wish to continue onto Intermediate Modern Dance after completing this course.

Belly dancing is a great low-impact workout, suitable for beginners and dancers of all ages.

Students will learn classic struts and shimmies, how to work with props and music, as well as techniques for a chair routine. This class will help students continue to learn more advanced techniques and steps of East Coast Swing, the Lindy Hop and Charleston with some safe lifts and jumps depending on class experience level.
