The Hungry Fish Café’s Chef/Owner, Sarah Fish, never planned on owning a restaurant, nor did she anticipate ever cooking professionally. But as things often happen, working out the way they’re supposed to, Chef Sarah found her love for the kitchen by accident.

Completely self taught, Chef Sarah learned the skills it took to become an award winning chef (Albany Food and Wine Festival 2012 Winner) when she began gardening years ago. In an effort to eat healthier and needing to do something with the abundance of produce, canning and preserving led the way to a lifetime commitment to from-scratch cooking and a search for the best food on earth.

From chef, to entrepreneur, to farmer, Chef Sarah has been dedicated to providing people with carefully grown and cooked, locally produced products. Since 2011 when The Hungry Fish Café went from being a daydream to being a reality, each recipe is her own, the bread is kneaded by hand and Chef Sarah even occasionally works on Buckley Farms where she sources her eggs and meat. The Hungry Fish Café has won Best Breakfast in Capital Region Living Magazine (2012), Best Chili (CRLM 2013 and Brunswick Elk’s Lodge Chili Challenge 2011) and continues to provide award winning meals to the Capital Region for breakfast, lunch and catering.

Still new to the restaurant world, Chef Sarah gets excited to experiment with new cooking techniques, unique ingredients and to hone her craft so others may enjoy her food as much as she enjoys growing and preparing it. Her menu is constantly changing to reflect the inspiration she gets from working so closely with the food and the farms.
