Online Summer Camps

Is your family looking for ways to enrich your child’s creativity this summer? The Arts Center is excited to announce our new online summer camps program for your family to continue nurturing the young artists in your lives.

Our online camps will focus on being an interactive and hands-on experience. Throughout each week of camp, our talented teaching artists will guide you through step-by-step creative projects, offer daily check-ins with families, host a weekly online art show, and encourage campers to obtain inspiration from outside time to influence your creative process.

Schedule

Kids Camps (Ages 6-11) | Monday-Friday | 9:00 am-10:00 am

Pre-Teen/Teen camps (Ages 12-17) | Monday-Friday 11:00 am-12:00 pm

What should families expect?

  • 1-hour sessions (Monday-Friday) + daily check-ins (optional)

  • Check-ins times will be scheduled with your teaching artist at the start of camp   

  • Check-ins will allow families to ask questions, touch base about current projects, and share the progress of your creations

  • Step-by-step art making via interactive Zoom sessions

  • Encouraged outside time to inspire weekly creations

How will you create your art?

  • Art Kits will be provided to each family prior to the start of camp

  • Kits will include all materials required to create projects each week

  • Kits will be available for curbside pick-up. A schedule for curbside pick-up will be available upon registration. If you are unable to attend a pick-up date, other arrangements can be made to obtain your kit

  • Kits can be mailed if curbside pick-up is not convenient. Please note, an additional flat rate fee must be paid to cover shipping costs. Shipping costs will vary based on each camp 

Online Art Show

At the end of each week of camp, your young artists can showcase their creations in our online art gallery. Instructions will be sent to you upon camp registration.

Online Camp Zoom Information

All camps require preregistration below and will be conducted using Zoom.  Please note, campers who register are not required to have a Zoom account but you must download the Zoom software on your  computer, tablet, or cellphone to access each session.

Following registration, families will receive a direct email that contains a link for each camp. Upon registering, please be sure to provide a current email address so we are able to properly send you a link to each family and provide you with all required camp information.

Week 1

Summer Splash Art!
(AGES 9-11)

Summer and water go together! We will dive right in and create our own swimming pool scenes. We will brush stroke around rocks to make rushing streams. We will have fun jumping together into an ocean paintings and much more! We will have fun using different medium every day to create our refreshing water art and will learn about a number of famous artists too!

Stop Motion Animation
(AGES 12-17)

Design and create your own stop motion films right in your own backyard! We will begin this online camp by learning the FREE Stop Motion Animation app that will be the main tool to create your unique films. Using a variety of materials, including clay, colorful papers, pipe cleaners, beads, and items around your home, you will learn to create your own props, sets, and story boards!

Botanical Painting & Drawing

From Van Gogh to O’Keeffe, artists have studied and painted flowers throughout art history. With bright petals and blooms of different shapes and colors, they compete with one another for the attention of butterflies, ants, and bees and now our camp artists! Join us as we explore art through a scientific lens and develop our skills in drawing, painting and sculpting plants and flowers who have inspired artists throughout history.

Cupcake Wars
(AGES 12-17)

Junior chefs mix, bake, design, and create cupcakes while mastering the essentials tools needed to produce one of a kind cupcakes! This Cupcake Wars Camp teaches students the art of making delicious, unique cupcakes, and decorating them.

Week 3

Steampunk Surrealism
(AGES 6-11)

Explore the world of Steampunk–a genre of sci-fi that draws its inspiration from the tech and aesthetic of the 19th century. Using a variety of different materials, you will create a colored pencil, pen, ink-illustrated drawings inspired by your own neighborhood, giving the world around you a steampunk twist! From gears, to gadgets, and retro-futuristic fashion, you will dive into a new and exciting place you never thought existed before.

Graphic Novel Illustration

Every good story has a beginning and end. Memorable stories, however, have “larger than life” characters. Develop these characters and they can make your story come alive. In this online camp, you’ll use traditional tools like pen and paper, or optional free electronic tools that will be free to download on your phone or tablet. Each session, you’ll be taught how all these tools work together so you can produce something spectacular using your imagination to create a unique illustrated graphic novel.

Clay Exploration

Explore the world of clay arts right in your own backyard! Campers will be focusing on handbuilding through a variety of techniques to create functional and sculptural clay pieces. Learn how to pinch, coil, press, and use your imagination to develop interesting works of art with clay. Campers will not only have the opportunity to create, but the chance to have their work fired in the Arts Center kilns. Drop-off and pickup of pieces will be coordinated with our education department once the online camp has completed.

Summer Photography
(AGES 12-17)

Focusing on photography concepts and techniques, students will learn the arts and science of digital photography. You’ll explore the camera and how it works and learn how to tackle digital image processing/editing. Throughout the week campers will take several walking trips in their neighborhoods for inspiration and capture images with the camera of their choice. You will also learn to discuss, critique, and curate images with your fellow photographers. Please note, campers can use any camera they have readily available for this camp, this can be a DSLR, point/shoot, or even your cellphone camera.
