Melissa George-DerGurahian, born in Morristown, N.J., started dancing at age 5.  She and her parents moved to Glens Falls, N.Y. when she was 11 and continued her dance training at The Dance Center of Queensbury under Barbara Tebeau.  She trained with her until the age of 18.  She was part of Adirondack Ballet Theatre for six years, performing roles such as Harlequin Doll (original dancer/creator), Snow Queen, Dew Drop Fairy, and Sugar Plum Fairy.

Melissa received her BFA in Dance Performance from The Boston Conservatory in 2004, performing works by Lar Lubovitch, Jose Limon and Martha Graham.  Over the courses of the summer, Melissa trained with The Limon Dance Company, David Parsons Dance Company, and Ballet Hispanico.

Currently, Melissa is dancing with The Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company located at The Egg in Albany, NY.  This is her ninth season with the company.  She has collaborated with other artists in the area on Obsequi, a multi-media art event held in Albany’s historic St. Joseph’s Church.

Melissa has been professional for 8 years and has an extensive background.  She is trained in ballet, modern, jazz, and tap.  She has taught a wide range of children, teens, and adults.
