Arts Center Panelists



The Arts Center of the Capital Region accepts grant applications from non-profit organizations and artists to fund arts programs in the Capital Region each year. Projects throughout Albany Rensselaer and Schenectady counties are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization program.


The Arts Center selects members of advisory panels from a list of nominees to evaluate and rate each grant application according to these primary criteria:


  • Artistic/Programmatic Excellence
  • Management/Fiscal Competence
  • Service to the Public


The Arts Center seeks a diverse group of professionals with a range of expertise from all across the three counties represented above to fulfill the advisory panelist role.


Term: January 1st, 2017 to March 1st, 2018


Panel members may be reappointed for a term of up to three years. In general, a panelist serving three consecutive years will not be reappointed.

Selection Process and Requirements

Nominations are now being accepted for advisory panelists. Self-nominations are permitted. All panelists must be residents in Albany, Rensselaer or Schenectady counties for the duration of their service period.


Advisory panelists are required to act with utmost impartiality with respect to the evaluation and rating of applications and to protect panel deliberations from any potential conflict of interest or the appearance or such a conflict. Panelists will be required to acknowledge any affiliations with organizations making applications to the Decentralization program and must comply with New York State Ethics Laws.


To make a nomination, submit a completed Nomination Form and the nominee’s resume to The Arts Center of the Capital Region by mail or email at the addresses listed below by the due date.

Applicant Statement

In order to ensure fairness in the application review process, grant applicants are strictly prohibited from contacting advisory panelists associated with and/or involved in the activities or affairs of the Arts Center in any way to obtain or share information regarding the Decentralization Grant application review process. This includes all activity associated with the Arts Center at its main office, including panel discussions, and all communication with the Arts Center staff including, but not limited to exchanges via email, telephone, or online system.

All data, materials, knowledge and information generated through, originating from, or having to do with the Arts Center or persons associated with our activities, including contractors, is to be considered privileged and confidential and is not to be disclosed to any third party. This also includes, but is not limited to, any information of, or relating to, panel discussion, applications, and funding recommendations.

All inquiries about panel results and proceedings must be communicated to the the Arts Center staff directly.
