What makes the remarkable colors, textures and special surface effects that we sometimes see in pottery? For centuries Ceramists have been working with simple metallic oxides mixed with natural mineral powders to produce a seemingly endless variety of glaze results. Join John Visser, Chemistry teacher and Potter, and begin your journey to demystify the nature of our earth bound substances, and how they can occasionally transcend the ordinary into the spectacular. Students will develop, mix, and test glazes and slips on wares made during the class. Lectures and presentations will round out the experience. Complimentary session offered on 5/21 during Arts Center Gala.
