Art IS Essential

Fence Student Submission Guidelines & Entry Form

The Fence Show is an annual celebration that pays homage to a time when members’ artwork was exhibited on the iron fence surrounding Washington Park in Troy, the original location of the Arts Center. In our present location on River Street, member artwork is displayed salon style (floor-to-ceiling) in our galleries. All levels of skill and ability are represented, from novice to professional with an array of mediums including but not limited to paintings, drawings, photography, fiber arts, stained glass, and sculpture. We invite you to be part of the tradition in 2021!

Returning from a challenging year that left people of every walk of life vulnerable, we would especially like this year’s Fence show to highlight how essential the arts are in our daily lives. Whether creating for the joy of creation, a career, or as a path to physical or emotional healing, art is an indispensable part of our lives every day.

We welcome all of our new and committed member artists to join in reflection of this past year by showcasing work created during the pandemic.

Every year we welcome all media to our walls. This includes non-traditional media and electronic arts.
