06/11/19-07/16/19 | The Evening Landscape in Watercolor – Light and Mood Through Contrast

Course Description

We’ll explore the way in which important aspects of color – value, intensity, and temperature – affect our sense of light and mood in the evening landscape. The class will be a combination en plein air/urban sketching and studio class. We’ll spend the first half of class outdoors, creating sketches of the landscape in evening light. Then, we’ll go to the studio and explore ways to enhance light and mood with contrasts – light vs dark, bright vs dull, and warm vs cool – for maximum effect. Students provide own materials and will be provided with a suggested list upon registration.
