In this class you will throw forms to be fired using the raku process. Raku is a process by which pottery is fired at a relatively low temperature and then moved while hot to a closed container with combustible materials (such as paper or sawdust) that ignite and cause a reaction, creating colors and patterns in the pottery’s surface. Pots will be burnished, brushed with Terra Sigillata, and burnished again before being bisqued. Please note, firing will take place off-site at the instructor’s residence.
