February 8, 2018 to March 22, 2018 — 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM
Instructor: Sunghee Park Member:200 | Non-Member:220 | Materials Fee: 50. Enrollment Max: 8

Expand your drawing and painting skills through monotype printmaking! Monotyping is a type of printmaking made by drawing or painting on a smooth, non-absorbent surface. The image is then transferred onto a sheet of paper by pressing the two together, usually using a printing press. This class will focus on one-of-a-kind prints, working with Plexiglass plates and water-based intaglio inks. We will cover various monotype techniques including: negative and additive processes, stencils, tracing, and working with multiple plates. We will also discuss line quality, mark-making, composition, contrast, and color. Participants are encouraged to think of monotype as a process of investigation and experimentation to ultimately find out which process works for you best. The class is open to all levels. Studio hours will be offered for independent working time. NO CLASS 2/22.
