Owing its origins to vaudeville, Burlesque is a style of theatrical entertainment that offers women of all ages, shapes and sizes the opportunity to experience a sensual performance tradition that deftly combines allure with satire and humor. This class will consist of a variety of stretches and warm-ups with an emphasis in posture and poise, along with instruction in classical struts and shimmies and traditional bump and grinds. Students will be introduced to both forms of Classical and Neo-Burlesque culture, encouraged to create a burlesque persona of their own and discover their identity within the community. Channel the history of magnetic, powerful women, and become part of that history yourself! For the full experience, please bring high-heeled shoes.
