Contemporary Art comes alive not only in the making of an object, but also by looking at it, and talking and writing about it. In this thought provoking class you will discover and investigate different means and methods of appreciating art, and how to write and speak about it. The class will visit a local museum and gallery, engaging in active discussions about the work seen. You will learn the language critics use to speak and write about art, developing a set of conversations that will culminate in each participant writing original pieces of criticism. Ways to easily publish your own arguments on contemporary art and art-making will be shared. There are no pre-requistites for this course. Participants are asked only to bring along their enthusiasm for art, and a sense of intellectual adventure.
