Sewing Lab: Machine Basics
June 27, 2013 — 06:00 PM to 09:00 PM Instructor: Petra JancovicovaWhether you’re a fashion fanatic, a crafter, or just trying to be more resourceful, learning how to sew is a basic skill that can take your ideas to the next level. In this workshop, you will learn how to set up, thread, and start using your sewing machine. You’d be surprised what you can do with a simple pattern and a little know-how. Students should bring their own machine, any machine accessories, and some scrap fabric. If you don’t have a machine, you’re welcome to look on with the instructor or a partner and take notes.

Sewing Lab: Basic Alterations
August 6, 2013 — 06:00 PM to 09:00 PMLearning how to make simple alterations is a resourceful way to work with clothes that no longer fit, or adjust found or vintage pieces to fit perfectly. In this workshop, you will learn basic alteration techniques. We’ll cover hand-sewing, raising and lowering hems, using a sewing machine to take in fabric, and much more. Students should bring their own machine, any machine accessories, and some scrap fabric. If you don’t have a machine, you’re welcome to look on with the instructor or a partner and take notes. Some sewing experience is helpful but beginners are welcome.
