Artists and artisans living in the greater Capital Region,
the Times Union wants you.
Just in time for the holiday shopping season, the Times Union is creating an online database of artists and artisans for timesunion.com and we'd like to include you in it. This will allow readers searching for locally created fine and functional art an easy way to learn about what you create and how to get in contact with you to buy your wares.
Who is eligible? Individuals (not galleries or stores) living within a 100-mile radius of Albany who make any kind of fine or functional art that is for sale to the public: painters, jewelers, photographers, potters, woodworkers, fiber artists, seamstresses, glassblowers, basket weavers, sculptors, printmakers, etc. We realize that individual artists may operate storefronts and, of course, we will include these folks in our listing.
This is a free listing. Reply directly to the Times Union
What we need from you:
Your name
Your Web site
Your medium (painter, jeweler, sculptor, printmaker, potter, etc.)
A brief description (100 words or less) of what you make

Please e-mail information to:
smehalick@timesunion.com with the words "artist database" in subject line.
If you have questions, please e-mail aforementioned address or call
Susan Mehalick at 454-5478.
Since this database will be updated regularly, enrollment is open-ended.

The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Artists Programs (www.midatlanticarts.org)
The Foundation’s Artists’ Programs allow artists to explore, create and present their work while providing support and services to assist in career development.
Programs include:
Artists & Communities supports residencies by visiting artists from the District of Columbia, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania at organizations located throughout the Foundation’s 9-state territory. The program encourages artists and community groups to collaborate in designing projects that result in community participation and provides support to professional artists for the creation of new work.
Creative Fellowships are offered annually to two artists from each of MAAF’s member states for residencies at artist retreat centers or other artist-focused organizations that are able to provide the special facilities or equipment necessary to create new work and explore new ideas and concepts.
The Living Legacy Jazz Award is given annually to a mid-Atlantic region jazz master who has had a distinguished performing career, made a special commitment to jazz education, and worked to impart his or her unique knowledge of the art of jazz to emerging young artists.
