Learn ways to create dynamic, vibrant, intriguing still life pieces that are sure to catch your viewer’s attention with nationally acclaimed master artist Robert Carsten. Known nationally for his friendly and informative instruction, as well as his award-winning pastel paintings, Robert will demonstrate and discuss methods and ideas in contemporary still life painting. Backgrounds that include other artwork, windows revealing a landscape, background/foreground correlation and much more. Join us for a fun and educational pastel experience. All levels from beginner through advanced are welcome. Materials list provided upon registration.

Robert Carsten, a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and was a scholar to the Academia di Belle Arti in Carrara, Italy. He is a Board member and signature member of the Pastel Society of America, is Editor of PSA’s Pastelagram and annual exhibition catalog, and is a contributing writer to the Pastel Journal and The Artist’s Magazine. A Master Circle Pastelist in the International Association of Pastel Societies and a Lifetime Honorary Member of the Southwest Florida Pastel Society, his pastel paintings have been shown in many museums and galleries and are collected worldwide. His work was recently part of a selections exhibition at the Butler Institute of American Art and has been featured in The Artist’s Magazine, The Pastel Journal, and Strokes of Genius/The Best of Drawing as well as in Pure Color/The Best of Pastel, American Art Review and more.
