Independent Study in Stained Glass

This class is a continuing development of stained glass with refinement in both technical and aesthetic pursuits with a focus on independent study. Working with the instructor, students will create a variety of finished projects that express their own interests in the art of stained glass in terms of technique, style, and subject. Students should have taken stained glass at The Arts Center or have previous stained glass experience.

Advanced Drawing and Painting – Two Week Special Course

Continue your exploration of a variety of subject matter through drawing and painting. Learn to make your compositions come alive as you develop your skills in rendering the figure through both short and extended poses. Try a variety of drawing and painting mediums while you build confidence in your ability to work from life. Studio fee covers the cost of a model, but students should plan to bring their own drawing and painting supplies.

New Artist Awards

We are very pleased to have awarded newly created artist awards at The Arts Center’s annual Gala on May 15th. Michael Oatman received $7,500 through the Established Artist Award and Colin C. Boyd received $5,000 through the Emerging Artist Award.

The 2013 artist awards are sponsored by EP&M International, with support from Karen and Chet Opalka and the Marcelle Foundation. A local panel selected the winners of this year’s awards.

SOLD OUT – Tropical Undersea Adventure

Enter a world of oceanic adventures! Campers will dive right in and create a world of sea creatures including fish, whales, and jellyfish after learning about different ocean habitats. We’ll create papier-mâché fish, submarine portholes, octopus puppets, sand casted shells + more! A new, neat underwater topic will be introduced each day to inspire a ship’s-load of fun ideas and activities!

Photography 101

This course will define and clarify the functions that are found on most digital SLR cameras, shooting techniques, and an introduction to digital viewing and editing on the computer. Students will learn about depth of field, aperture, exposure, light meter, quality settings, shutter speeds, and basic composition. Students can bring their own DSLR camera, or use one at The Arts Center. Please bring a USB flash drive to save your work. No class 7/4.

Farmer’s Market Yoga

This “yoga fusion” class has an upbeat, energetic vibe supported by eclectic music that will suit yogis of all levels. Om style yoga is a blended practice of flowing yoga asanas informed by precise attention to alignment and supported by the relaxed wakefulness of Buddhist mindfulness meditation. Stained Glass

The best stained glass pulls the viewer into beautiful, colored worlds. Begin to work your way toward perfecting this art form as you learn the basics during this camp, including stained glass design and construction, glass cutting, copper foiling, soldering and cleaning. Each student will create their own, unique stained glass panel to take home.

The Modest Mug

In this course, intermediate to advanced level students will be challenged to make their mugs better. Students will focuses strongly on the techniques needed to make a “good mug” through exploration of purpose, function and aesthetics.

Jewelry Sampler Workshop

Are you a bead jewelry designer who’s looking to take their skills to the next level? Or are you interested in jewelry classes at The Arts Center, but aren’t ready to commit to a 10 week course? This workshop will satisfy your curiosity and introduce you to the tools and metalworking techniques taught in our longer classes. We’ll start with a tour of the jewelry studio and all of its awesome equipment, then your instructor will give demonstrations of foundation skills like sawing, filing, polishing and forging. The remainder of the class will be loosely structured to allow students to try their hand at these new skills and get familiar with the tools and materials in the jewelry studio.
