Fence Show Guidelines

This year a special School category has been established and enables schools to enter up to five works per school into the Fence Show. You may pay the membership fee at the time work is delivered or in advance.
ELIGIBILITY
The Annual Fence Show is open to all artists who are members of the Arts Center. Your membership must be current at the time you drop off your work. You may pay the membership fee or renew your membership either in advance, or at the time work is delivered.
You may submit a maximum of three (3) works in any media. If any piece is more than 30” in any direction, only two (2) works may be submitted. Works previously exhibited at The Arts Center are not eligible for submission.
ARTWORK SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Artwork must be delivered to the Arts Center between 9 am and 7pm, Tuesday June 10 and Wednesday, June 11 or between 9 am and 8pm, Thursday June 12. Paintings and works on paper must be securely framed and/or wired, ready to hang. Any art that appears unable to hang securely will be refused. A 3 x 5 card must be attached to each entry with: artist’s name, address, phone, e-mail, title of work, medium, dimensions, sale price or insurance value if not for sale.
Fill out the entry form completely, sign and bring it at the time of drop off. Blank entry forms will be available from The Arts Center at the drop-off. Entries will be handled with all possible care and security will be provided. The Arts Center will insure all entries while on the premises for up to $2000.
The submission of your work for display and your signed entry form, indicate your agreement with all conditions in the Fence Show Guidelines.
SALON DISPLAY, FINAL SELECTION AND AWARDS
All works accepted for entry will be displayed during a Salon period, June 14 – July 11. During this time, the invited juror Denise Markonish, Curator at MASS MoCA , will choose works to be included in the seven-week-long Fence Show Select 2008 Exhibition. More than $500 in prizes will be awarded. The President's Choice Award will entitle one artist to a solo exhibition at the Arts Center in the coming year.
Prizes will be announced at 7pm at the Fence Show Select Reception on Friday, July 25, 2008. The reception, from 5pm to 7pm at the Arts Center, is free and open to the public. For more information, call The Arts Center at 273-0552.
RETRIEVING ARTWORK
All work must be retrieved and checked out at the registration table at The Arts Center on the designated dates.
-- Works accepted for the Salon display and not for the Fence Show Select 2008 Exhibition must be removed from the Arts Center between 10am and 7pm, Monday, July 14 through Wednesday, July 16.
-- Works included in the Fence Show Select 2008 Exhibition (July 25– September 12, 2008) must be picked up at the times and dates that will be designated.
Please DO NOT CALL to determine if your work has been chosen for the Fence Show Select 2008 Exhibition. You must come to the Arts Center to pick up works not chosen for the Select Exhibition.
A list of the works chosen for the Fence Show Select 2008 Exhibition will be posted at the Arts Center and on the Arts Center’s website by July 12. If all your work has been selected for the exhibit you will be notified by phone or e-mail by July 17.
Any works not picked up by the deadlines will be charged a $2 a day storage fee per work. This fee must be paid before the art is released.
