In this super condensed “crash course,” students will be introduced to Adobe Illustrator CS5, the top program for creating vector graphics. Adobe Illustrator is great for creating posters, text-based imagery, polished drawings, maps, and more. Illustrator supports cross-media design and multiple graphics formats, and provides endless options to create impressive designs and artwork. Participants must be comfortable with basic computer operations. Mac experience is helpful, but not required.

Photoshop: A Crash Course

July 28, 2012 — 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM Instructor: Ben Karis-Nix

This super condensed “crash course” will introduce students to top photo editing program, Adobe Photoshop CS5. Participants will go over basic editing techniques including, basic image management, working with layers, resizing images, cropping; color correcting, and saving for various outputs. Participants will need: 10 personal digital images, flash drive or CD/DVD for saving work, and a notebook. This is also a great refresher for someone with Photoshop experience, but wants to become more familiar with the latest version, but students with no prior experience are welcome. Participants must be comfortable with basic computer operations. Mac experience is helpful, but not required.

Creating a Portfolio in HTML

This six week course will cover the basics of HTML, CSS, and Javascript with a focus on building an easy to maintain, professional portfolio. Students will learn the fundaments of HTML and CSS, strategies for consistency, and how to leverage and customize Javascript plugins to highlight your work. Bring a USB drive to save your work. Bring your own images and audio files to use and upload your videos to Youtube or Vimeo so we can embed them into your portfolio.
