Our beautiful pottery studio faces the Hudson River and features 20 wheels, a lead-free glaze room, three electric kilns, and plenty of space for students to work both individually as well as in groups.

Personalized Study in Clay
June 21, 2012 to August 23, 2012 — 06:30 PM to 09:30 PM Instructor: John VisserThis is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced clay student to realize a personal goal in clay. Working independently, students will pursue their own ceramic project objectives with John Visser, who has mastered the arts of throwing, hand building and sculptural ceramics. He will act as a resource providing expertise in support of the unique goals of each student and fostering creative thinking through demonstration, lecture, and discussions.

Lectures, demonstrations, wheel throwing and hand-building will be used to explore the aesthetic, sculptural, and functional possibilities of stoneware clay. Students will create several finished pieces. Techniques will be demonstrated and lectures will feature technical information on high temperature firing and stoneware glazes. Advanced Pottery

Students will learn how to throw vases, bowls, pots and more! Carving and slip trailing for surface decoration will embellish creations, which will be glazed and kiln-fired. This is a fun, hands-on course for any enthusiastic beginner or continuing student.
