Making your own contact mics is an easy and fun way to explore electronic sound. Contact mics can be used to reveal a world of hidden sound around us or to amplify acoustic instruments. We’ll also build a variety of other sound makers, such as an electronic coil, a light theremin, and a simple oscillator. No prior experience with electronics is needed. All students will be provided with materials and a soldering iron to work with. Students must bring a powered speaker or a guitar amplifier. Mini amps, such as Radio Shack 277-1009 work well.
