The Memoir Project, a program of The Arts Center of the Capital Region, presents Bookmarks, a series of group readings featuring writing that is grounded broadly in personal experience. February’s theme is “Valentine’s Day: Dilemmas and Disasters.” It is curated by Kathryn Allen.
It’s supposed to be a day to celebrate love, but too often it goes all wrong. We are between lovers and grumpy about it. Or dating someone new and unsure of gift protocol. Or “with” someone, but wishing we weren’t. Write an essay about the Valentine’s Day that made you want to castrate Cupid. Or if you are that rare soul who has a unique, crazy, or heartwarming story February 14th, give that a shot.
